Cal COP was used during the Urban Shield 2014 Yellow Command Regional Mass Casualty Incident Exercise on Friday, September 5. The objective was to test the ability for local, regional and state-level participants to see a common threat awareness “picture” in real time. Sunnyvale Police Department, Palo Alto Public Safety, Santa Clara County OES, San Mateo County OES, Coastal Region REOC, and the State Threat Assessment Center participated in the pilot exercise. On September 6-7, the ability to monitor real time threat information was exercised in the Orange Command as a part of the tactical exercise. The NCRIC provided scenario information back to the tactical teams as they submitted field intelligence using the NCRIC Field Reporter configuration of the DS7 Mobile Indicator. Thirty-six tactical teams from across the state participated in the exercise as well as other major city and international teams.
