National Homeland Security Conference Speakers Highlight Cal COP

Several speakers at the recent National Homeland Security Conference in Tampa, Florida highlighted their use of Cal COP. Craig Dziedzic, General Manager of the Bay Area UASI, presented on the panel entitled “Gaining Real-Time Situational Awareness During Super Bowl 48 and 50.” His presentation included discussion of how Bay Area agencies utilized Cal COP to share information during Super Bowl 50. Dan Mahoney, the Deputy Director of the Northern California Regional Intelligence Center, presented on the panel entitled “Public safety and Intelligence Use of Social Media.” His presentation included discussion of how the NCRIC utilized Cal COP as a tool to analyze social media pertaining to Super Bowl. Catherine Spaulding, the Assistant general Manager of the Bay Area UASI, presented on the panel entitled “Integrating the THIRA into Risk-Based Planning.” Her presentation included discussion of how the Bay Area utilizes risk data from Cal COP and a risk cycle supported by Haystax to conduct their annual risk-related activities, such as the THIRA.   For the full program from the 2016 NHSC, please see here.
